Steve started out as an Engineer’s Apprentice assisting with installations of CCTV, Access Control and Automation. He quickly became a competent engineer, growing a passion within the Gate Automation industry.

Developing his skills and knowledge throughout the years, Steve progressed to a Senior Engineer, under his guidance he trained Apprentices who later went on to become fully competent Engineers. In an ever-changing industry Steve was keen to build a more personal relationship with the customers and evolve further.

After several years as an Engineer, Steve took the next step in his career in becoming a Manager working within a security company. In this role Steve managed an Automation Division, including day to day running of 5 engineers, responsible for conducting site surveys, providing quotations, and regulating safety audits.

With his wealth of knowledge and skills gained throughout 15 years, Steve founded SF Automation in 2021. His focus is to provide a professional service and experience to new and existing customers, delivering, and maintaining high quality workmanship and adhering to the current safety standards set out by DHF, the automation industry’s Governing Body. This is further enhanced by gaining a Diploma within DHF’s Training Academy.

Zoe started out within the beauty industry gaining a Diploma in providing specialised treatments and products, whilst this remains a great passion for Zoe, she is able to maintain this interest outside of work.

Zoe went on to becoming a receptionist at a local security company in Cirencester where she learnt vital skills along the way and over the 13 years within the company she worked her way through many roles to Service Co-Ordinator, Keyholding & Alarm Response Co-Ordinator, Data Compliance Co-Ordinator and finally a Sales Co-Ordinator.

After the experience gained and as hard of a decision it was, it was the right time to move on where she joined her husband, Steve, to develop and grow SF Automation together.

With Zoe’s skills and wide knowledge, she is key in providing adminicle assistance, including quote production, accounting, quality control, and day-day running of the company.

Zoe also provides her expertise behind our social media and marketing.  

Zoe’s focus is to maintain and build a high level of customer service whilst gradually expanding the company without losing touch of a family run feel.

We have customer's who like to have a complete package, especially keeping everything under one house, therefore SF Automation can offer everything including groundworks, landscaping and electrical work.

For our much larger jobs, particularly requiring heavy duty machinery, we draft in our trusted Groundworkers.

Again, keeping within the family ethos, we use family and local friends with over 10+ years experience running their own companies in groundworks and landscaping.

They are able to prepare the ground which may include, digging out old posts, setting in new posts,  building brick piers, concrete,  tarmac and even block paving, this can all be done prior to our works commencing, meaning everything is set and ready for us to come in and complete our gate and automation installation.
